Founded in March 2001 by a group of senior scientists returned from the United States, Chipscreen Biosciences focuses on developing innovative drugs with new mechanisms of action (MOA) for the treatment of human diseases in five major therapeutic areas, including cancer, metabolic diseases, autoimmune disorders, central nervous system disorders and antivirals, so as to provide patients with affordable, efficacious drugs to meet their clinical needs.

Chipscreen Biosciences was the first biotech firm approved for listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange Science and Technology Innovation Board Market (Stock code: 688321.SH).

Chipscreen Biosciences has a global intellectual property strategy, with patent portfolios in a number of countries and regions including the United States, Europe, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Egypt, Ukraine, and South Africa etc.

Till now, Chipscreen has filed over 400 invention patents worldwide, with more than 100 of these granted. The chemical invention patent for our innovative anti-cancer drug Chidamide won a gold award in the 19th China Patent Awards.

Founder、 Chairman、 President

Dr. Lu returned to China in September 2000 to take up a position as a senior visiting scholar at the State Key Laboratory of Membrane Biology at Tsinghua University. After founding Chipscreen Biosciences in 2001, he has successively served as the Chief Scientific Officer, President, Deputy Chairman, and Chairman of Chipscreen Biosciences.

Dr. Lu graduated with a BSc in biochemistry from Sichuan University in 1983 and PhD in molecular biology from Peking Union Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 1988. He pursued postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 1989 and co-founded Maxia Pharmaceuticals and Galderma Research Inc. in San Diego in 1994, serving as Director of Research at Galderma R&D. With more than 30 years of global experience in drug research, development and management, Dr. Lu is highly accomplished in the fields of molecular medicine, oncology, neuroendocrinology, immunity, metabolism and skin diseases. He has published more than 100 articles in top international journals such as Science, Nature, and Lancet, and is named as the first inventor on over 100 invention patents in the field of drug discovery.

Dr. Ning returned to China in May 2001 to co-found Chipscreen Biosciences, acting as Director of the Biological Research Department and R&D Director before being appointed Vice President of Clinical Research and Development. Dr. Ning graduated from the University of London with a doctorate in Immunology. Prior to co-founding Chipscreen, he worked as a physician at Beidaihe Hospital in Qinhuangdao, an assistant researcher at Academy of Military Medical Sciences and later as a postdoctoral researcher and assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Head of Product Development and Production

Since 2001, Dr. Li has served as the Group’s Chief Scientist and Director of the Medicinal Chemistry Department before becoming Vice President of Product Development and Production. He was previously Deputy General Manager of Xi’an Kaimi Co., Ltd., and a senior engineer at Xi’an Modern Chemistry Research Institute. Dr. Li graduated from East China University of Science and Technology with a doctorate in applied chemistry.

Mr. Li’s roles in the Group have included Finance Department Manager, Board Director, Vice President, and the Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Before joining Chipscreen in 2001 he was an accountant in the Financial Department of Hainan International Investment Co., Ltd., manager in the Financial Department of Hai Guo Tou Industry Share Co., Ltd., and director and Chief Financial Officer of Guangzhou Ruijun Industrial Co., Ltd. Mr. Li graduated from Jinan University with a major in international accounting.

Dr. Pan received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from China Union Medical University (now Peking Union Medical College), before undertaking postdoctoral research at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2000. Prior to joining Chipscreen Biosciences in 2002, he was an assistant research fellow at Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Dr. Pan’s roles in Chipscreen have included researcher in the Department of Biological Research, Director of the Drug Discovery Department, Chief Scientific Officer, Head of the Early Research & Development Center, and Vice President.

Ms. Hai has served successively as an R&D Department assistant, Director of the Legal and Public Affairs Department, and Assistant President of Chipscreen since joining in 2001. She was previously an assistant in the Human Resources Department of Shenzhen Huaji Yuehai Technology Co., Ltd. Ms. Hai graduated from Jilin University, majoring in Economic Law.

Ms. Zhao graduated from Sichuan University with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. Before joining Chipscreen Biosciences, Ms. Zhao was a lecturer at Sichuan Institute of Light Industry and Chemical Technology (now Sichuan University of Science & Engineering), Director of Microbial Strains Production at Shenzhen Kexing Biotech Co., Ltd., Deputy Manager of Marketing at Beijing Peking University WBL Biotech Co., Ltd., and Manager of Sales at Beijing Dinglikang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Since joining Chipscreen in 2001, Ms. Zhao has served as Manager, Administrative Director, and Vice President in the Brand and Public Affairs Department,.

Mr. She graduated from China Central Radio and Television University. Formerly Manager of Sales at Nanjing Zhenzhong Biology Engineering Co., Ltd. (now Nanjing Luye Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), he has 15 years of experience as regional/national Sales Manager of Bayer HealthCare China (incorporating the merged Schering-Plough). In 2013, Mr. She joined Chipscreen Biosciences and established the oncology division.

Mr. Zhang graduated from Heze Medical College. With more than 20 years of experience in vaccines and prescription drug sales, his roles have included Regional Manager at GlaxoSmithKline, Regional Manager at Pfizer, National Marketing Manager at Eli Lilly, and National Sales & Marketing Director at Actis Capital LLP. Mr. Zhang joined Chipscreen Biosciences in 2020, establishing the Metabolic Diseases Division.
